Dahshour

Dahshour forms the southernmost area of the Memphis necropolis and contains a large number of pyramids and monuments. It has been opened to the public recently, since until 1996 it was a military zone. It is worthy of attention for being the place that best shows the change from the “step” pyramid to the “true” one, which occurred during the Third and Fourth Dynasties.

Memphis

It was the capital of Upper and Lower Egypt about 5,000 years ago. Menes, considered the first pharaoh of the First Dynasty, built here a large palace with white walls and the temple of Ptah, the main god of the region.

Sakkara

It is one of the most fascinating historical and archaeological areas in all of Egypt. It is located about 20 km southwest of Cairo and the place is dominated by the famous step pyramid of King Djoser. This was the first pyramid built in ancient Egypt, many centuries before those of Gizah, and is the work of the famous pharaonic architect, Imhotep.

Pyramids of Cheops, Chefren, Mycerinos and Sphinx

They were considered by the Greeks as one of the seven wonders of the world. The pyramid of Cheops alone is made up of 2,300,000 stone blocks, with an average weight of between 1.5 and 2 tons each.

Faced with such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers and artists have tried to convey for centuries.

Pharaonic Town

This is a unique experience that transports us 1,000 years back in time, to enjoy the magic of the pharaohs, while we sail on the Nile River.

Queen Henutsen's Pyramid

This pyramid is next to the pyramid of Khufu, or Cheops, the largest of the three at Giza. It is one of those that have access from the inside. I recommend that you try to go down to this one first, because the feeling inside is a bit strange, and if you have claustrophobia, at least you will find out without having to wait in line and get an entrance ticket to Cheops. I thought it would be cool inside but it is incredibly hot, there is not much air and you come out sweating. There are few people who come down, because they are not as famous as the others.

The queen's tomb is in the background, there is a funerary room where the mummy was found along with some accessories and jewelry. It is a very small space and those who go down have to give way to those who try to go up. Queen Henutsen was from the fourth dynasty, in 2550 BC, during the time of Khufu. The funerary room is quite well preserved.
